Bio:
His entire life, Jacob Reitzin, has been on a journey of discovering God’s destiny for his life. While he had the benefits and blessing of being raised in a home where Jesus Christ was honored, at a very young age Jacob, tested the limits of God’s love and his parent’s patience. In his early teens he set out to test the limits of that love and went into a world of drugs, violence and rage. He spent several stints in the local juvenile hall and his heart grew ever harder. With very few options remaining the Lord gave his parents a word about sending him into a program for troubled teens, so he ended up 2000 miles away from his native SB on the Island of Western Samoa. Over a one year period the prodigal came home and was restored to his right mind. While in the program Jacob found himself along with a multitude of other young men swept up in a move of God and experienced the book of acts first hand on a little beach, which was literally at the ends of the earth!
That experience set the course for the rest of Jacob’s life. From there he moved to be a part of a school of ministry in Canada. While there God banded him with two friends from Ireland, They dreamed together of one day starting a church in Dublin Ireland, which they eventually did. “The Feast” became a place for many weary pilgrims to come and experience the love of God. After living in Ireland for 2 ½ years Jacob sensed the Lord leading him back to his native land of California where he now lives married to the love of his life, Lizette and they have one daughter together- their precious Kiera Faith.
Jacob currently works for Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards as a sales manager and spends a good number of his days on the road traveling up and down our beautiful state pouring wine for both sinners and saints, pagans and priests, but his passion remains seeing a radical move of God that spans the generations, and for all to come and taste the new wine of Heaven. He is involved as a leader at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Goleta which was co-founded by his mom and dad, Marty & Elyse Reitzin, and enjoys hiking the beautiful trails of Santa Barbara, chilling with the family, camping trips, and tripping out on the works of Oswald Chambers, E.M Bounds, John G. Lake- and of course one of his hero’s in the faith, Smith Wigglesworth. Oh, and a really random secret about Jacob is that one of his favorite songs is “Girl’s just want to have fun,” by Cyndi Lauper!!!
Description of the class:
Week 1 - From Pentecost to People:
And you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you shall be my witnesses - We will be exploring the Holy Spirit’s power & the Father’s promise to bring to life & enable a rag-tag group of Jewish Disciples to impact the entire world with the ministry and message of the Kingdom.
Week 2 - Signs, Wonders and the Kingdom of God:
We will be studying and seeking to digest the methods and tools of the Kingdom that the Lord gave the church to Know, Grow & Go.
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. The gospel of Jesus goes viral!
Week 3 - Church Planting:
In the Book of Acts and in the 21st Century. How can we learn from the forerunners of the faith to impact our world today through Church Planting. How do we go about this crazy task of reaching our generation for Christ & what is God’s strategy to reach the nations with His love?
Week 4 - Prayer & Intercession:
After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Nothing in God’s Kingdom happens without it first being birthed in prayer. What was Jesus Prayer for the church? We will be peering into the history of prayer and how prayer & intercession birthed a glorious, faith filled, Jesus loving church. And how we can partner with God in prayer, in our generation today, to be the church that Jesus is building.
Week 5 - Cross Cultural Ministry- “For the
sake of the gospel”:
In this age of globalization, the church faces the challenge of ministering in a world increasingly shaped by immigration, exile, language barriers, marginalization, and the need to reach out across prejudices old and new. Cultural barriers tied to race, religion, and politics were also a genuine challenge for the early community of believers as they faced a pluralistic and diverse Hellenistic society. These hurdles already confronted Jesus' first-century followers and would only multiply as belief in Jesus continued to spread. How can we follow the apostle Paul’s example in how he lived cross culturally for the sake of the gospel, “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.”
Week 6 - From Information to Revelation:
Living a life of revelation & inspiration in a world with too much information! How do we walk and live as followers of Jesus with a ferocity and focus in an age saturated with so much distraction & deception. How do we infiltrate into the culture with the light and life of the Kingdom; creating a counter culture, and turning the world upside down as the early disciples seemed to do in less than a decade? I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me. “Jesus”
